About the artist

Born in Paris in 1969, Alexandre Guillery has devoted his free time to creation since childhood. After studying at a Rudolph Steiner school, and then winning a silver medal at the Institut Supérieur de Peinture Décorative “Van Der Kelen”, for 25 years he put his skills to use in crafts and art (foundryman, carpenter, moulder/laminator, painter, decorator, designer, painter, etc.).

His work as a decorative painter for private homes and movie sets soon led him to pictorial expression in the form of trompe l'oeil, then on canvas. His oil technique is close to Flemish primitive art, based mainly on the superstition of glazing. He opens a small gallery in the village of Bormes, “l'Espace Gal'Art”, which enables him to exhibit his work, as well as that of other artists.

Alexandre Guillery is the founder of the “Atelier Gal'Art”, where he passionately shares his know-how in the form of courses and workshops, offering everyone the chance to develop their art. He is also a volunteer Vice-Chairman of the Mouvement des Arts association. The Steiner-Waldorf school, which trained me, is founded on the idea of human freedom.

It is convinced that love, trust and enthusiasm, instead of ambition, fear and competition, endow children with the serenity and strength they need to move forward in an uncertain world, and to realize their life plans, contributing to human progress. In my way of life, I strive to follow these principles, using art to find a certain balance. My paintings are the result of these efforts, and the image they reflect is one of spontaneous, natural harmony.
